The Volvo FM's safety features definitely stand out. The truck's design prioritizes vision for drivers, a big deal in crowded urban areas. I noticed the active safety systems provide great assistance during tight maneuvers. However, while the technology is impressive, it might feel a bit much for drivers who prefer a more straightforward setup. Still, it's hard to argue with its solid Euro NCAP rating.

Drove the updated FM for a couple weeks. So the driving position is proper comfortable, everything sits where you reach for it, and you don't have to twist or stretch. Controls are simple, and the new dashboard isn't overcluttered, so you don't lose time looking for stuff. Really appreciate the grip from the anti-slip mats on the floor, whoever came up with that idea, thanks. Ride is decent, the truck handles smooth enough, but honestly I still get a bit of glare off the screens in bright sun, and the touchscreen sometimes needs a second tap. Maintenance is about what you'd expect for a new Volvo, not cheap, but at least you get proper access to dealership service. Fuel economy feels a touch better but can’t say for sure just yet. Cabin is solid, and it’s got enough space for a mess of gear, which I personally need.

Tried the new Volvo FM recently, and let me tell you-it's an upgrade in many ways. The interiors feel more spacious, making it comfortable during downtime. I do think the I-Shift adjustment might take getting used to, but it's a minor point. Visibility is excellent, a key for tight urban maneuvers. Overall, a solid truck.

This Volvo machine is unreliable. It falls apart completely. The maximum it can last is about 15,000 hours, then the piston cover breaks and needs to be replaced. It is also very fuel-consuming, I don't know what it is eating, but it consumes about 10 liters of oil per shift. Additionally, in the winter, they have glitches and often fail, so what's the point of having such a dump truck? They used to be of better quality in the past, but now they are just as junky as John Deere dump trucks. All the spare parts are Chinese-made. If we summarize all their negatives, the money spent on them is practically wasted.

Took the Volvo FH 540 for a spin recently. The quiet engine operation caught my attention even at higher RPMs-a nice change when you're on long hauls. Ride feel is smooth, partly because of the suspension setup. Technology-wise, it assists rather than obstructs, which is appreciated. However, I had to adapt to the steering responsiveness, maybe just my preference. The functionality exceeds expectations for the most part.

I've had the chance to drive the Volvo FH 540 for a few jobs recently. A couple of things stand out to me. First, the adjustable load distribution system is really helpful when managing uneven loads. Helps reduce wear on the axles. However, the cabin electronics interface feels less intuitive than I'd prefer. Still, it's reliable and doesn't let you down. Mileage isn't bad either, and the overall build feels solid.

I’ve been driving FMs for short routes and here’s what I think in plain talk. The truck is basic by design - budget trim, low roof, two small steps up. Front suspension is leaf, rear is 4‑bag on many examples, so ride is softer than some rivals. It handles well for regional work, not a long haul cabin. Lots of these arrive from Europe gutted (no Webasto, no fridge, lights removed) so expect to buy extras. Parts are not cheap like some Germans, but the layout is straightforward so a decent mechanic can sort things out. Gearbox on my unit was the simple 4+4 setup, which works but is clunky on hills; if you want smooth long climbs this isn’t it. Corrosion is present in spots but VINs are usually clear which helps paperwork. Heater/vent layout is annoying, storage limited, and the interior plastics feel dated but hold up. If you need a cheap regional workhorse that’s easy to service, it’s a fair choice, just don’t expect comfort or perfect electrics.

I've been driving the Volvo FM for a while now. The safety really stands out - I saw that Euro NCAP thing where it scored five stars, just felt good knowing I'm not the only one who thinks this truck is safer than most. You get great visibility all around, the mirrors and view from the cab are just solid. That active safety tech does its job, though sometimes it feels a bit sensitive - had some moments where it beeped at me for stuff I wouldn't have noticed. It's not perfect, but honestly it gives a bit of peace of mind in city traffic especially on tight corners. Can't say I notice anything crazy special regarding comfort or anything, the cab is decent enough for daily use, no complaints. Service is pretty standard for these, nothing too pricey but not dirt cheap either.

Price-wise, it's not the cheapest truck, but with all that safety I guess you pay for what you get. Haven't run into major issues with reliability yet.

Good dump trucks, made with intelligence and for people. I have three years of experience working as a mechanic in a transportation company. I was involved in transportation and worked on this same machine. The equipment in them is good, with autonomous operation, plus fuel filter heating and assistance system for uphill starts. The gearbox is excellent overall. It handles well when working with sand and clay, carrying wet sand, clay with ore, and basically whatever you want - you won't overload it, in short.
